I was just getting over
Having my heart broken
And forgetting the last words
That she had spoken
But then I ran into someone
And I had a felt a flame
She had to go, was running late
I didn’t get her name
Do you know the power of your name?
Please, let me know your name
My memory can’t forget
Your piercing blue eyes
So I pass by the same place
Hoping that you’ll arise
I tried and tried and tried and tried
Although you never came
I don’t think I’m asking too much
Just want to learn your name
Chorus:
Do you know the power of your name?
Please, let me know your name
There is some saving grace in your name
Please, let me know your name
I may not be the one
But I promise I’ll be done
If I can just know your name
One day I’m driving downtown
I see you wearing a white gown
Standing by you is a man
That moment messed with my plan
CHORUS
I read in the newspaper
Something that is a shame
I did learn what you go by
But learned of your new last name
Just a quick thing to note: this is not a situation that happened
to me. I wanted to state that right off. When writing, I sometimes try to think
of scenarios to put myself in. Occasionally I tell a story in my lyrics. With
these lyrics, I tried to do both. Also, I pretty much wrote the lyrics to the
tune of “Name” by Goo Goo Dolls. Just a fun fact!
