Ocean Waves

Wish I could be watching from shore
Stick my feet in the sand
Not have to fight against the wave
But enjoy the dry land
This isn’t who I knew at first
Help me to understand

Smother me, you try to smother me
Rescue me, someone please rescue me

Chorus:
From California to Carolina
Your ocean waves are crashing down on me
Your ocean waves are crashing down on me
From the northern shore to the southern shore
Your ocean waves are crashing down on me
Your ocean waves are crashing down on me

It takes time for me to step in
To make sure it’s okay
But I found out that there’s a calm
Before the giant wave
You try and move me where you want
Turns out that I won’t sway

Have to breathe, I need some time to breathe
Set me free, let me go and be free

CHORUS

I can’t enjoy the ride
The salt is in my eyes
Pulled in the undertow
Take me back to the shore
Freedom’s at my arm’s length
But I’m losing my strength
I just want to break free
Go on to be happy

CHORUS

Believe it or not, I first had the chorus to these lyrics come to me while at the beach. I then looked for a way to compare the waves to a life situation and this is what came out of it. Have you ever had a relationship to someone who ended up being too controlling or pushy? Did you feel you were being smothered? It might have felt like ocean waves crashing on you.
