Home Is Where You Are

I don’t recognize this place
Can’t see your face
Locked my heart with you inside
But then my pride
Threw all we had into space

It just doesn’t feel the same
I am to blame
I regret all yesterdays
Wanted to say
That home makes me think your name

Chorus:
Home, home, home
It’s how I feel ‘bout you
Home, home, home
And all the things you do
Come to see you from so far
Because home is where you are
Home, home, home

I leave my place to go to yours
My life’s done for
I just need you by my side
To be my guide
And then we’ll open the door

You need to hold on to your heart
Don’t fall apart
Can you let me protect you?
Please let me through
It’ll feel like home from the start

CHORUS

A house is not the same as a home
You help me to stay and not to roam
You keep on asking if I’m okay
Why would I be when you’re away?
Some say home is where you find the heart
Well the truth is home is where you are

CHORUS

I have been fascinated for a while about the idea of “homes” in lyrics. It is used to describe a place of comfort and familiarity. Some have said it is where the heart is. These lyrics are to show that home is where we are with someone we know and love. Some other songs about “home” that I like are: “I Wanna Go Home” by Michael Bublé, “Home” by Phillip Phillips, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” by Bon Jovi, and “Home” by Daughtry.
