Third Wheel

Your whole life you try to follow trends
Try to get along with your friends
And start to realize you are bored
Of being cast out and ignored
So you go out of your way and try something new
But it was for naught, everyone has no clue
Of all your hard work and how you feel
In life, it ain’t easy being the third wheel

You didn’t ask for this to happen
You keep on losing but you want to win
You desire to show what you can do
No one pays attention; they look through you
If you got a chance, it would make your heart heal
Because you have been known as the third wheel

You’re always looking for your grand moment
Checking the mail for something to be sent
You have bad days but you try to have hope
Sometimes you sit down and begin to mope
You’ve wondered if you’ve done something wrong
Instead, be glad and just sing your song
For out of the blue, it will be real
When you will no longer be the third wheel

Oh, how amazing the day will feel
When you can see your heart heal
And no longer be the third wheel

You never put your heart or guard down
Your eye twinkled and never frowned
You never spoke but now you can hum
For the day you waited for has come
That day when to everyone you are real
And end your streak as that old third wheel

This is the day where now you can hum
This is the day that you wanted to come
This is the day when you are now real
This is the day when you’re not the third wheel

When people talk about a third wheel, you might imagine a person tagging along with two of his or her friends who are in a relationship. They are enjoying each other’s company and the third person is just on the side. This set of lyrics sort of makes reference to that, but also in a larger way. In life, we might feel we are on the side. Others come and go or move on to bigger and better things and we might be still on the side. It can feel great to break that mold and become something other than that label.
